Name of Partner: Vannia Hernandez, MD Location: San Diego border region Partner Website Link: What do they do/Who are they? Vannia is the Binational Health Project Manager for Binational Border Health at the California Department of Public Health. She was born and raised in Tijuana, Baja California and moved back and forth between San Diego and Tijuana throughout her life. Since her life has been influenced by both sides of the border, Vannia considers her home community to be the binational community across the border. How do they partner with CCH? Vannia recently joined our COI Leadership Council and is interested in COI’s efforts to improve recreational places for children to increase their physical activity. As a physician, Vannia realizes that physical activity is crucial for children’s development. Quote from Partner: “In my community, there are many disparities and disadvantages.
